Portable generators require a inlet receptacle and an interlock bracket for your panel. It allows you to use power from the generator to your panel for all the essentials like Lights, Computers and TV's, Refridgerators, and freezers. They can also power up a well pump and in some cases your water heater.

Standby generators can, if large enough, power up your whole house. These systems require an automatic transfer switch installation along with a gas supply.
